Dominican hotels occupancy rises in Q1

Santo Domingo.- Hotel occupancy in the first quarter of the year reached 84.3%, marking a 4.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

The regions with the highest average growth in hotel occupancy were Boca Chica-Juan Dolio, with a 20.9% increase, and La Romana-Bayahíbe, with an 8.6% rise.

Air passenger arrivals totaled 2,334,562.3, with 86.9% being non-resident foreigners and 12.1% non-resident Dominicans.

In contrast, the first quarter saw an 8.8% decrease in cruise ship arrivals, with only 258 cruise ships docking, according to the Statistics Bulletin from the Macroeconomic and Sector Statistics Division of the National Statistics Office.

Despite the drop in cruise ship arrivals, the number of cruise passengers increased. In the first quarter of 2023, 801,878 passengers arrived in the country, compared to 866,829 in 2024.
