Punta Cana surpasses Cancun in preference among argentine tourists

Punta Cana.- The Caribbean remains a preferred vacation destination for Argentines, maintaining its position in the top 3 favorite destinations. According to the Travel Services agency, January accounted for 45% of total trips, February for 30%, and March, at present, stands at 25%.

The most popular choices among Argentinians include Mexico (Cancún and Playa del Carmen), the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana and Bayahibe), and Cuba. On a smaller scale, Panama, Costa Rica, and Aruba are also gaining traction.

The agency highlighted that Punta Cana, Cancún, Bayahíbe, and Playa del Carmen are the four most sought-after vacation destinations from January to March.

Notably, the peak of purchases for trips to the Caribbean occurred in October 2023. The average stay for Argentinians remained at 7 nights over the three months.

Guido Boutet, the marketing manager of Travel Services, noted that Punta Cana has claimed the top spot in preferences this summer, surpassing Cancun and Playa del Carmen. He emphasized Punta Cana’s appeal, citing its variety of rates and a range of all-inclusive hotels—a feature increasingly valued by Argentinians seeking to minimize cash usage during their trips abroad.

Boutet stated, “The Caribbean consistently positions itself as an appealing option for vacations abroad. Despite initial concerns about sustaining last year’s success in the summer season, the Caribbean continues to surprise and remains one of the favorite destinations for Argentinians.”

For those planning to visit Punta Cana during Easter, Travel Services offers travel packages starting from $1,500,000 and flights from $1,050,000. Alternatively, Cancun presents options with packages from $1,350,000 and flights from $990,000.
