Bogota.- La Quinta by Wyndham is set to make its mark in Puerto Plata, bringing a new international brand to the North coast of the Dominican Republic with the addition of 115 rooms to the destination.
The announcement was made during the ANATO 2024 Showcase tourism fair by Edward De Valle, CEO of the De Valle Group, the exclusive owner of the La Quinta franchise and other Wyndham brands in the country. This development is expected to generate 200 direct jobs during the construction phase.
De Valle, expressing enthusiasm, stated, “What better occasion to unveil the construction of our La Quinta Puerto Plata hotel than at this ANATO fair, where the Dominican Republic showcases its commitment to the destination that witnessed the inception of tourism on this beautiful Caribbean island.”
The CEO emphasized that La Quinta by Wyndham is scheduled to debut in the country in 2024. The hotel will feature a range of amenities, including a lobby bar, restaurant, co-working and meeting spaces, a fully equipped wellness center, and a swimming pool.
Attending ANATO in support of Puerto Plata, De Valle acknowledged Colombia’s significance as a key tourist source for the Dominican Republic, following the United States and Canada.
Highlighting the unique moment, De Valle pointed out the substantial Wyndham Rewards program, boasting over 106 million members actively seeking new Caribbean destinations. He emphasized the trust these members place in the Wyndham brand and its 24 associated brands, acknowledging La Quinta’s recognition with over 900 hotels in the United States and Canada.
De Valle underlined the pivotal role played by the United States, contributing more than 47% of tourists to the Caribbean island. Additionally, he revealed that La Quinta Puerto Plata is joining La Quinta San Francisco de Macorís, which is currently under construction.
In closing, the businessman commended the favorable investment climate in the Dominican Republic and applauded the collaborative efforts of Minister of Tourism David Collado with the private sector in advancing tourism initiatives.
